Masked Man (page 137-138)
He walks up to me
and holds out his arms.
I ease into them
and we begin to dance.
The music
is slow
and
saxophony.
I can feel the heat
of his hands penetrating
the thin fabric of my dress
at the small of my back.
His fingers roam up to my shoulders,
melting away my shyness,
as he draws me close enough
to feel my breasts against his chest.
We move together,
breathe together,
my hands gripping his shoulders,
his thigh pressed between mine.
I don't have a clue who im dancing with,
but our bodes are acting like old friends,
as though they know something
we don't know.
One reason I chose this passage was because i think that this passage in particular is amazing. The imagery sonya sones uses is outstanding and it makes you feel like your the one dancing with the masked man. Also, this portrays how Sophie really doesnt know much about this guy that shes falling for in the story, yet she winds up knowing that he is absolutely perfect for her. This passage shows that sometimes you should just go with the flow and follow your heart and you never know, something extraordinary may happen.
